General Statement of Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Food Services, the primary purpose of the Dietary Aide is to assist with the overall operation of the kitchen, including food preparation and cleaning.

General Statement of Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Food Services, the primary purpose of the Dietary Aide is to assist with the overall operation of the kitchen, including food preparation and cleaning.
Core Job Responsibilities
- Assisting in the preparation of food and is responsible for serving meals, snacks, and beverages using portion control and applicable sanitation practices.
- Operating the dishwasher and properly stores pots, dishes and utensils.
- Following community fire safety, infection control practices and hazardous chemical practices, and uses cleaners and other hazardous materials in accordance to health department procedures.
- Keeping the kitchen, dietary equipment, and dining room clean and sanitary at all times, including work areas and floors and according to assignment.
- Cooking and/or dishwashing experience in a long-term care setting is preferred, but will train the right candidate.
- Energetic, enthusiastic, ability to multi-task and make decisions if necessary
- ServSafe certified preferred
- Works in well-lit and well-ventilated area.
- Exposed to hot and cold temperatures in kitchen and storage areas.
- Stands and walk short distances most of the day.
- Lifts light to moderately heavy loads routinely (up to a maximum of fifty (50) pounds).
- Twists, turns and bends intermittently throughout the day.
- Works in close quarters with other employees.
- Superior self-management skills, as independent initiative, time management, and ability to collaborate are essential
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, reflecting an understanding of the appropriate use of communication technologies and an appreciation that each audience requires its own approach
- Appreciation of cultural and ethnic diversity, especially with respect to outreach to underserved communities
