Therapeutic Activity Director DSCU

Reports to the activity director. Policy, consultation, and guidance provided by the Royal Program Director.

Requirements:

1. Certified as a therapeutic recreation specialist or as an activity professional by an accrediting body recognized by the department of public health: or

2. Two years experience in a social or recreation program with in the last five years, one of which was full time in patient or resident activities program in a health care setting

3. Is a qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant

Training

1. Initial training will be the state mandated Alzheimer’s training

2. The Royal Alzheimer’s program director, or designee, will provide the initial training.

3. There will be quarterly trainings, as well as monthly oversight, by the Royal Alzheimer’s program director.

Responsibilities

1. Developing and implementing the therapeutic activity program individualized for each individual. This will be done in consultation with the buildings rehabilitation and nursing teams.

2. Supervising the activities personal that assist with therapeutic activities

3. Planning and scheduling of activities or events

4. Developing and posting a monthly calendar of activities in a conspicuous place.

5. Contributes to each resident’s comprehensive assessment and plan of care.

6. Providing sufficient over sight of the activities personnel.

7. Assisting with other DSCU services as needed.
